The plot of this story is inspired by a certain old British shanty. A young woman named Sally Grey is preparing to marry her sweetheart-a young sailor named William Taylor. It is the happiest day of their lives for both of them, but is interrupted by William's unexpected call to military service by the press gang. Not wanting to be left alone, Sally decides to dress up in men's clothing. She manages to get on the same deck her fiancé is enlisted on. A year later, while practicing saber combat, her true gender is discovered. Sally thinks she's about to be killed but instead, the ship's captain asks what prompted her to hide here. Frightened, she replies that she was afraid she would never see her beloved William again. The captain tells her when and where she can find him, but she also learns that William, through his illness, left the ship some time ago, which she did not know. Upon arriving at the port, she sees him with some woman he is kissing! Sally's emotions begin to rage-she feels anger, but deep down she still loves him. What decision will Sally make?
