Twilight Sparkle, who is sent to Ponyville to supervise the Summer Sun Celebration. There, she meets and reluctantly befriends five other ponies: Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie. When Nightmare Moon emerges and steals the sun, Twilight and her new friends discover that they represent the Elements of Harmony and use their combined powers to defeat her and restore the sun.
