Christopher Jackson, sentenced to death for the murder of 8 innocent people and 10 police officers, escapes from death row. During his escape, he severely injured his leg, but was found by a man his age-Richard Smith-who is drowning in debt and could lose his home at any moment. He takes him to his house and treats his wound and gives him shelter. The men begin to really like each other. One evening, Christopher confesses to his friend that he is a murderer sentenced to death who has escaped from prison and will give him the money from his previous robberies if he hides him. Although Richard knows he should call the police, he decides not to, and not because of the money.
