Prince Mwenemutapa is a noble and just leader of the Kingdom of Kongo, a prosperous African empire abundant in resources and culture. Life is good until the arrival of the European invaders, led by the cunning and ruthless General de Almeida. The Europeans seek to exploit the kingdom's resources, enslave its people, and impose their own ways of life on the African nation. Determined to protect his kingdom and people, Prince Mwenemutapa challenges General de Almeida to single combat. But he is no match for the General's superior weapons and battle strategies, and is defeated and captured. Prince Mwenemutapa is taken to Europe, where he is enslaved and forced to work in the mines. With the help of fellow slaves and his own fortitude, Prince Mwenemutapa escapes from captivity and embarks on a perilous journey back to Kongo, determined to free his people from the Europeans' grip. Along the way, he faces many challenges and makes alliances with people of different cultures, such as the brave Native American warrior, Nanook, and the wise and learned Chinese sage, Master Wu. When Prince Mwenemutapa finally returns to Kongo, he finds his kingdom in a state of great distress, with the Europeans having taken control and wreaked havoc on the land. With the help of his new allies and his own courage and determination, Prince Mwenemutapa leads his people in a final battle against the Europeans, and emerges victorious, restoring peace and prosperity to the Kingdom of Kongo.
