for Jeff Greenbaum in Murder in Grand Hotel
Suggested by jakubduda

Private detective Elvis Apollis and his best friend Jesus De La Vega arrive at the luxurious Grand Hotel for a few days of relaxation. There, Elvis meets the beautiful writer Annabeth O’Neill, while Jesus becomes close to the temperamental Violetta Espinosa. However, their peaceful stay ends when wealthy businessman David Adams is murdered during a gala evening. Elvis discovers that almost every guest had a reason to want David dead. Hotel owner Wayne Murphy owed him money, Jeff Greenbaum had a dangerous business dispute with him, Liam Redford ended up in prison because of him, and the mysterious Douglas Dalton has been following him for months. With the help of Jesus, Elvis begins to uncover lies, hidden relationships, and old secrets connected to the hotel’s history. All the evidence gradually points to Wayne Murphy, who had the greatest motive and the ability to commit the murder. However, at the final gathering of the guests, Elvis reveals that Wayne was merely a set-up victim. The real killer is the seemingly friendly Michael Braddock, a former police officer and head of hotel security. David Adams caused Michael's father's death years ago and then used bribes and false evidence to sweep the whole case under the rug. Michael got a job at the hotel, waited for David's return for years, and during a storm, he prepared the perfect murder. He used the security system, secret corridors, and directed the evidence against Wayne. However, Elvis discovers the only flaw in his plan: Michael knew a detail about the murder scene that neither the police nor the other guests could have known. Michael tries to escape through a secret corridor, but Elvis and Jesus catch him after a dramatic chase. After solving the case, the Grand Hotel reopens. Elvis finally asks Annabeth out on a real date, and Jesus leaves with Violetta. Although their planned vacation ended in murder, both detectives leave the hotel with someone who might make them happy to return to it one day.
