Satine is a dancer and courtesan at the Moulin Rouge, who is known as the legendary "Sparkling Diamond". The first time Christian saw Satine, she was singing "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend". She mistook Christian for the Duke. Zidler had said that he was marked by a waving hanky.
Christian, an English writer, travels to Paris to join the Bohemian revolution. He visits the city's biggest night club, Moulin Rouge, and falls in love with its star performer and courtesan, Satine.
