Following the mysterious disappearance of champion Liu Kang, the bravest and most powerful fighters are summoned to an epic tournament that will decide the fate of all kingdoms. The evil sorcerer Shang Tsung has resurrected fallen warriors and formed an alliance with the fearsome Emperor Shao Kahn, with the goal of resurrecting an ancient and destructive power known as the Deadly Alliance. Liu Kang, along with the battle-hardened agent Sonya Blade and the charismatic actor Johnny Cage, must face their most dangerous challenge yet: stop the Deadly Alliance and save the kingdoms from total annihilation. As the fighters engage in bloody and brutal battles, betrayals and unexpected alliances are revealed. Meanwhile, an enigmatic new warrior, Kassandra, joins the fight, unleashing her own deadly secrets and abilities. Under the direction of action master John Woo, the combat sequences reach new heights of intensity and spectacularity.
