After the events of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, Shang Tsung, Fujin, and Nightwolf are still struggling to stabilize the timeline, but an unexpected anomaly causes a rift, tearing through reality and pulling Sonic and his allies into the deadly world of Mortal Kombat. As time begins to break down, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles find themselves trapped in the Outworld, a chaotic and brutal land where the strongest warriors fight to the death. Seeking a way back home, they quickly become entangled in the conflict between Earthrealm and Outworld, as the forces of Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, and other villains attempt to exploit the weakening fabric of reality for their gain. While Sonic races against time to stop the destruction of both worlds, the Mortal Kombat heroes, including Liu Kang, Raiden, and Johnny Cage, are forced to join forces with Sonic and his friends. Sonic’s speed and agility make him a formidable asset in the tournament of champions, while Tails and Knuckles lend their technological expertise and brawn. However, Sonic’s presence disrupts the established order, and he must face off against some of Mortal Kombat’s most iconic fighters, including Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and even the time-bending Kronika, who sees the hedgehog as a major threat to her control over the timeline. As the rift between the two universes grows wider, Sonic and his newfound allies must race against Kronika’s deadly manipulations of time and prevent a total collapse of the multiverse.
