Moomins are coming to life as an animated feature film, written and directed by Rebecca Sugar. The film, to be created by media company Annapurna, will be the first Moomin film produced in the United States.
The new Moomin film is the first Hollywood adaptation of Tove Jansson’s stories about the Moomin family and their friends. The film will be created by the entertainment company Annapurna’s animation division, founded in 2022 by former Disney animation execs Robert Baird and Andrew Millstein, and known for the Academy Award®-nominated NIMONA.
