When Jacob was a young boy, he enjoyed his grandfather's fantastical stories of a special orphanage for 'peculiar' children guarded by "a wise old bird". However, as Jacob grew older, he had dismissed these stories as fiction until the night his grandfather was murdered by something only he could see. Following the advice of his psychiatrist and his grandfather's dying wish, Jacob finds the abandoned orphanage, only to find himself on a journey beyond his comprehension!
