Gil Pender is a screenwriter and aspiring novelist vacationing in Mexico City with his fiancée. On one of his late-night excursions, he meets a strange but familiar group who take him back in time to have a night with the icons of art and literature from the ranchera era. The more time Gil spends with these cultural heroes of the past, the more dissatisfied he is with the present.
