The Galactic Federation, an organization tasked with keeping peace between the countless factions in the galaxy, is on the brink of collapse after the rampaging Space Pirates stole specimens of the extremely dangerous Metroid. In order to prevent a catastrophic all out war, a renowned bounty hunter, Samus Aran, is tasked with infiltrating the Pirates' base in Zebes and stopping their plans.
