New characters in my version include Riley's openly gay and hedonistic club promoter brother Derek Richmond , ambitious and ruthless defense attorney Vanessa Michaels, former child star desperate to be taken seriously as a singer/songwriter Nicole Clayton, Lauren's childhood rival tv reporter Rachel Chen, bisexual mayoral speechwriter Ethan McBride, and David's overbearing mother therapist Evelyn Breck.
