Anthony Dwane Mackie (born September 23, 1978) is an American actor. He gained wide recognition for portraying Sam Wilson / Falcon / Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), and headlining the Disney+ miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) and its continuation film Captain America: Brave New World (2025). Mackie made his film debut in 8 Mile (2002), and earned critical recognition for his roles in Brother to Brother (2004), which garnered him an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Actor, and The Hurt Locker (2008), which earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the AAFCA Awards. He also played Tupac Shakur in Notorious (2009) and Martin Luther King Jr. in the HBO film All the Way (2016). On television, Mackie starred as Takeshi Kovacs in the second season of Netflix's Altered Carbon (2020) and currently leads the Peacock series Twisted Metal (2023–present). In theatre, he has performed in Broadway and Off-Broadway adaptations, including Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, A Soldier's Play, and Carl Hancock Rux's Talk, for which he won an Obie Award in 2002. After the Avengers' fight at the airport and the Superhuman Registration Act, Steve Rogers loses his faith in America and no longer feels able to carry the country's flag and shield. But he doesn't have much time to mourn his friend Tony and his actions. He frees his friends and colleagues Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, Wanda Maximoff, Clint Barton and the new one, Scott Lang, from the Vaught and finds refuge in Wakanda of all places. Bucky allows himself to be frozen here out of fear of his past. Clint Barton left immediately after the fight and went into hiding. Scott Lang wanted to return to his daughter. Steve hopes he's smart enough to hide from the government. He has learned from his sources that Tony has sent Misty Night and Colleen Wing to ask other superheroes to register. At the same time, a new threat is growing. A group called the Shadow Council is targeting the Winter Soldier and Wakanda. But Rogers doesn't know that behind the group consisting of Ulysses Klaue, Madame Masque, Batroc, Princess Zanda and M'Baku is the former SHIELD agent, now living in exile, Sharon Carter, but apart from him, no one else will find out.
