First appeared in Power Man #19 in 1974 and was created by Len Wein and George Tuska. Cornell Stokes/Cottonmouth was a crime boss who Diamondback stole heroin from and used to frame Carl Lucas/Luke Cage. Cottonmouth later recruited Luke Cage into his organization only for the hero to betray him.
