Whereas the Victorians had steamships and ironsides, Silkpunk is full of ideas like battle kites, weaponised fireworks, futuristic Chinese Junks, and terracotta automatons. Mixed with Asian herbal law, bickering Chinese gods and immortal Emperors, and the architectural styles of these diverse East Asian civilisations. The genre was named by author Ken Liu for the novel The Grace of Kings
