In the aftermath of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the team is still recovering from their previous battles, but a new and terrifying force rises in the form of Maximus the Mad, the brother of Black Bolt, and a rogue Inhuman with the power to manipulate minds. Maximus has been quietly building his own army of Inhumans, seeking to reshape the world into his vision of order through chaos. Using a mysterious artifact tied to time and reality, he starts destabilizing key global events, threatening to tear apart the fabric of reality itself. Coulson, Skye, Grant, Melinda and the remnants of S.H.I.E.L.D. are pulled back together to confront this dangerous new threat, with Luis, Jimmy, and Darcy rounding out the team to help uncover the artifact's secrets. As Maximus’s influence spreads, turning once-innocent people into unwitting pawns, the team must battle their own fears and insecurities while trying to stop him from achieving his ultimate goal: a world ruled by the Inhumans, with Maximus at the head of a new age of domination. Along the way, the lines blur between what’s right and wrong, and the agents must come to terms with the cost of saving the world once again. Maximus’s ability to play mind games creates intense personal conflicts, and just when all seems lost, the team makes a shocking discovery about the true source of his power—setting the stage for an epic confrontation that will change the course of S.H.I.E.L.D. forever.
