J’onn J’onzz, the Martian Manhunter, has walked among humans for centuries, quietly shaping history and protecting Earth from the shadows. Having finally found peace with the loss of his own people, J’onn is now determined to live openly as a hero and bridge between worlds. When a hidden psychic threat emerges—one that targets humanity’s very thoughts—J’onn must reveal himself, face sinister forces both alien and human, and decide what it truly means to belong. A wave of inexplicable psychic attacks sweeps through major cities, causing mass hysteria and violence. J’onn, sensing the disturbance, investigates in his human guise as Detective John Jones. Clues lead to Ma’alefa’ak, his estranged brother, who survived Mars’ destruction by embracing his darker psychic gifts. Ma’alefa’ak now seeks to remake Earth in his own image, unleashing ancient Martian technology and mind-control tactics. J’onn allies with Dr. Kimiyo Hoshi, a brilliant but skeptical S.T.A.R. Labs scientist, and Diane Meade, his loyal police partner, to stop his brother’s psychic onslaught. The final confrontation takes J’onn from the streets of National City to the hidden Martian vaults beneath the Sahara. Along the way, he learns to open his heart to humanity, drawing strength from connection rather than solitude.
