When Dr. Eggman's latest attempt to get the Chaos Emeralds shatters reality and opens dimensional rifts into the Mushroom Kingdom, Sonic must team up with Mario and friends to fight a battle against Bowser and Eggman, the like of whom have teamed up to accomplish their goals.
