One day, the Mario brothers are called in to do a job down at a local Italian restaurant owned by their friend, Marcella (Nick Offerman), who has reported problems with their pipes and thinks it could even be a larger issue with the sewer system below. The brothers are below and notice something weird about the sewers below. Within minutes of their arrival below they are bombarded by large monsters in the form of spiked turtles and crabs. The brothers meet Toad (voiced by Anson Mount), a talking humanoid mushroom dwarf who welcomes them to the Mushroom Kingdom, telling them their are the ones who have come to fulfill the prophecy. Escorted into town by Toad, they are introduced to Daisy (Britt Robertson) and Peach (Emily Blunt), two princesses who jointly rule the kingdom they see. But, while all seems right in their world there is really a great evil present. His name is Bowser Koopa (voiced by Mark Strong).
