Sonic Frontiers is a 2022 open world platform game release on November 8 developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. It is the first Sonic the Hedgehog game to feature open-world gameplay; as Sonic, the player explores the Starfall Islands, which comprise various biomes. Development began after the release of Sonic Forces.
This story follows Donkey Kong, Shadow and others that explore their adventure to unlock the key to unlock Mars' true potential, while Mario, Sonic and friends are venturing to stop the Kingdom of Berseria
