The maternal grandfather of Marimar and Angelica, Pancho Olivares was a Mexican immigrant and the co-owner of a popular pub in East Grinstead. In contrast to the sensible and responsible Cruz, Pancho was an outgoing and funny man who loved to make friends. His support has helped his family get further ahead, including his surrogate son Renato. Despite their deaths in a fire, Pancho and Cruz continue to support Marimar and Sergio as hallucinatory ghosts.
