David Jude Heyworth Law (born 29 December 1972) is an English actor. He began his career in British theatre before landing small roles in various television productions and feature films. Law gained international recognition for his role in Anthony Minghella's The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), for which he won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and was nominated for the Academy Award in the same category. Law found further critical and commercial success in Steven Spielberg's A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001), Sam Mendes' Road to Perdition (2002), Minghella's Cold Mountain (2003), for which he earned Academy Award and BAFTA nominations, in addition to the drama Closer (2004) and the romantic comedy The Holiday (2006). His subsequent roles were as Dr. Watson in Sherlock Holmes (2009) and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), a young Albus Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022), and Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel (2019); all of which rank among his highest-grossing releases. Other notable films include Contagion (2011), Hugo (2011), Side Effects (2013), The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), and Spy (2015), as well as the television series The Young Pope (2016), The New Pope (2020), and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (2024), earning a Children's and Family Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Performer nomination for the latter. I'm writing a fic involving a whole bunch of Harry Potter characters... It's mainly centred around the Marauders, as a marauders-era AU (time travel involved), so will include them, their extended families, classmates/school friends, teachers, and other canon characters they might know during their hogwarts years/the first wizarding war/etc. I've also included a few other characters (canon and original) who they might interact with/mention (e.g. the founders, merlin and morgana, etc. - via memories, portraits, visions, etc.) to better visualise them. Finally, because this is an AU, the marauders' futures will be different to canon, so I've included a bunch of original kid characters that will be in my fic... (e.g., children of lily and james, children of sirius and remus, etc.)... let me know what you think of the casting. In terms of casting, I'm not being too strict with age... mainly because my fic spans so many generations (from Dumbledore to older Black family generations to the Marauders' generation to their children...). I've tried to be at least plausible, if not accurate... e.g.: marauders and co = ages 35-45 (obviously, how I'm casting them is by referencing how these actors/actresses looked at a younger age, more like the marauders' ages). parents/etc. = ages 45-55. grandparents/teachers/etc. = 60+. kids/younger generations = mostly under 30. Unfortunately, there are some fancasts I just love too much to let go of, regardless of whether the ages work... Any recommendations are appreciated!! Sorry for the long, rambling explanation. (All other fancasts are valid, but I'll only include the ones I'm considering for my fic.)
