Creasy, a depressed and tired of life alcoholic former French Foreign Legion sergeant and mercenary, is hired as a bodyguard for Pinta Balletto, an 11‑year‑old girl, in Milan, Italy. Initially detached, he gradually forms a deep father‑like bond with her.
When Pinta is kidnapped and later found dead, Creasy is consumed by grief and rage. He withdraws to Gozo (Malta) to train, regain strength, and prepare for revenge.
