Engaged to Don Quixote's niece, Antonia. He's worried about his reputation because of Don Quixote's antics, but also wants to marry Antonia for all the land she will inherit from her uncle. So he sets out to cure Don Quixote's madness by playing to his illusions then dashing them. This "cure" is ultimately what leads to Don Quixote's death. The actor is often double casted as the cynical "Duke" of the prisoners.
