Glen Thomas Powell Jr. (born October 21, 1988) is an American actor. He began his career with minor roles on television and in films such as Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003) and Fast Food Nation (2006). Powell acted in the action film The Expendables 3 (2014), the comedy-horror series Scream Queens (2015–2016), the teen comedy Everybody Wants Some!! (2016), the historical romance The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018), and the romantic comedy Set It Up (2018). He also portrayed astronaut John Glenn in Hidden Figures (2016) and aviator Tom Hudner in Devotion (2022). Powell became famous for starring in the action film Top Gun: Maverick (2022) and the romantic comedy Anyone but You (2023). He has since starred in the dark comedy Hit Man(2023), which he also co-wrote and produced, and in the disaster film Twisters (2024). Luthor is a 2024 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Lex Luthor. Produced by Legendary Pictures, The Stone Quarry, and DC Films, it is the third installment in the DC Legacy Universe. The film was directed by Steven Caple Jr. and written by Zack Snyder, Jerry Bruckheimer, and David S. Goyer, and stars Gustaf Skarsgård as Lex Luthor alongside Mila Kunis, Bruce Greenwood, James Spader, Harry Lennox, Alfre Woodard, Patrick Stewart, and Kurt Russell as Lionel Luthor. In the film, Lex Luthor seeks redemption for his past crimes when he finds himself battling the evil Brainiac. Luthor opened in theaters on November 2nd, 2024; it received generally positive reviews with praise for the action sequences and Skarsgård, Kunis, Spader, and Russell's performances, but criticism for its predictable story and lack of ambition. It was box-office hit, grossing $718 million worldwide against a budget of $140 million. A sequel is in development.
