Born on February 17, 1986, in Vilyuchinsk, Grigory Dobrygin is a distinguished Russian actor and director who transitioned from classical ballet to become one of his country's most successful international exports. After studying at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, he graduated from GITIS and shot to fame as the lead in the superhero film Black Lightning (2009). He achieved critical acclaim in 2010, winning the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlin International Film Festival for the Arctic thriller How I Ended This Summer. Dobrygin has since established a strong presence in Hollywood, starring in the John le Carré adaptation A Most Wanted Man (2014) and the submarine thriller Black Sea.
