Paz Ortega Andrade is a key character in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and makes a mysterious appearance in The Phantom Pain. She initially appears to be a kind-hearted student supporting peace, but is later revealed to be a spy working for Cipher, the shadowy organization led by Zero. In Ground Zeroes, Paz is found with two bombs implanted inside her, one of which explodes mid-rescue, severely injuring Big Boss and triggering the destruction of Mother Base. In The Phantom Pain, she appears alive on the new Mother Base. In the live-action movie adaptation, Paz is considered and confirmed to be totally alive after the explosion in which she was considered dead, but she’s not dead.
