Nellie's father owns the town mercantile. Growing up with riches exclusive to those of her social stature, Nellie has swiftly developed into a school bully and a snob. Whether forcing the other girls to play whichever game she chooses, or eating fistfuls of candy in front of her poorer classmates, she is bound and determined to prove that she is far superior to them all. So when an independent, headstrong country girl like Laura Ingalls shows up, Nellie will stop at nothing to put her in her place. It is not long before she discovers she has bitten off more than she can chew though, and Laura is not going down without a fight!
