In *Legacies: Original Sin – Part II*, Josephine Saltzman discovers she is the last Moonbound Gatekeeper, tied to ancient interdimensional gates that connect all realms. Guided by the cosmic being Astrael, she learns the rifts are weapons and that the Devourer, a universe-consuming force, is hunting her kind. The Lynxley family tries to kill her using a weapon called the Gatebreaker, leading to civil war. As cosmic monsters invade Earth through rifts, Josephine evolves into a living conduit of gate energy, merging with the rift system to fight the Executioner and ultimately destroy the Devourer in a universe-scale battle. After saving reality, she collapses and wakes in the infirmary to learn she is pregnant, hinting her Gatekeeper legacy will continue through her child.
