The virus, which seems to have originated from an unknown source, wreaks havoc on the population, claiming more than half of Chicago’s residents in a matter of weeks. Panic sets in as the government and medical communities struggle to contain the outbreak and find a cure. As society collapses, a small group of survivors, including Ethan Thompson, a former emergency medical technician, Maya Singh, a young nurse, and a handful of children, must band together to navigate the treacherous new world. They face numerous challenges, from scavenging for food and supplies to avoiding roving gangs and the ever-present threat of the Chi-V. As they fight to stay alive, they begin to unravel the mysteries surrounding the virus and the true intentions of those who may be behind it.
