Sandman in this version is Tooth's adopted father as he found her after her tribe was killed by Scarecrow and took care of her for years. When she entered her teenage years Sandy teaches his adopted daughter to fight her enemies if she's in trouble. Sandy doesn't tell anyone that Pitch Black is his brother but in the 3rd Act he tells everyone and will do anything to stop him from hurting his adopted daughter and his friends
