Stellan Skarsgård (born June 13, 1951) is a Swedish-American actor, known internationally for The Hunt for Red October and Good Will Hunting, as well as his supporting roles in the Pirates of the Caribbean, Mamma Mia!, and Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchises. Skarsgård is particularly associated with director Lars von Trier and has appeared in six of the Danish auteur's features: The Kingdom, Breaking the Waves, Dancer in the Dark, Dogville, Melancholia, and Nymphomaniac.
In the shadow of King Vladimir's tyrannical rule over Latveria, the brilliant Victor Von Doom is seen as a savior by his oppressed people. Yet, his revolutionary ambitions are secretly driven by a far more personal and dangerous goal: to master a forbidden combination of science and sorcery to tear open a gateway to the netherworld and retrieve his mother's damned soul. Consumed by hubris, Victor proceeds with his experiment against all counsel, only for it to backfire violently. The resulting explosion of infernal energy disfigures him horribly, scarring his face and shattering his pride. Utterly broken, Victor conceals his ruined features behind stark white bandages, a shroud for the man he once was. In self-imposed exile, his grief and shame forge a new, unyielding will—an obsession with imposing his own perfect order upon the world. He returns to Latveria transformed, armed with terrifying new technology and mastery over the dark arts, leading a swift and brutal revolution against the crown. The story charts his ascent from a fallen genius to an unstoppable conqueror, ending as he deposes the king and claims the throne for himself. In the film's final moments, he discards his bandages and seals his fate, encasing his scarred face within a cold, newly forged iron mask, forever becoming the nation's new master: Doom.
