When technology conglomerate Ultratech advertises a fighting tournament called "Killer Instinct", beings from around the universe flock to prove their mettle. However, Ultratech has been dabbling in the supernatural and necromancy, resulting in the resurrection of Gargos, a being that was locked away on the astral plane thousands of years ago. Gargos, his 'herald' Omen, and soldier Shadow Jago wish to enslave the world, while Ultratech CEO Robert Sheridan and his computer ARIA seek to control even Gargos. Now, the various participants of the tournament, aided by Gargos' eternal enemy Eyedol, must put aside their differences and band together to stop both a demonic god and a ruthless corporation from destroying everything in their quest for ultimate power.
