Reduced to a parasitic existence after his original body was destroyed, Brainiac travels the cosmos absorbing energy and technology to maintain his form. He arrives on Earth seeking the Eradicator—Jor-El's sentient AI—hoping to absorb its perpetual battery and become a god. He blocks Earth's sun, manipulates Lex Luthor, and publicly poses as Superman's benevolent successor. Cold, calculating, and utterly without empathy, Brainiac is a machine that has learned arrogance and cruelty. He underestimates Superman's humanity and pays for it with his existence.
