Thirty years ago, the powerful Demirci family, titans of the Istanbul shipping industry, adopted an infant boy found in the care of a departing international diplomat. Raised as Kerem Demirci, he grew up with the finest education, the weight of a legendary surname, and the undeniable reality of being the only Black man in the highest circles of Turkish elite society. Now, with the family empire facing a hostile takeover, Kerem’s father, Rahmi, brokers a traditional "merger" through marriage. Kerem is to wed Leyla Soykan, the daughter of a rival textile dynasty. Leyla is a sophisticated, fiercely independent woman who views the marriage as a prison sentence, while Kerem fears he is being used as a pawn to prove his "loyalty" to a family he doesn't share blood with. The debut of their marriage is marked by icy silence and societal whispers. However, as they move into their private estate on the Bosphorus, the walls begin to crumble. They discover a shared passion for restoring Ottoman-era architecture and a mutual feeling of being "outsiders" in their own world. In the heart of Istanbul, a business deal slowly transforms into a profound, soul-stirring romance.
