The Justice Society of America or as it is also known as Justice Society of America is a group of superheroes belonging to the American publisher DC Comics, and was the first group of superheroes to appear historically in the Stories in Comics. Created by editor Sheldon Mayer and writer Gardner Fox, SJA, as it is also known, had its first appearance in All-Star Comics #3 (1940), in the middle of the Golden Age of comics. The group included the original versions of Mr. Fate (Dr. Fate), the original Green Lantern (Green Lantern), Jay Garrick (Flash), the Hourman (Hourman), the Sandman, the Hawkman (Hawkman), Atom (Atom), and Spectrum (Spectre).
