Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa (born August 1, 1979) is an Hawaiian-American actor and filmmaker. He made his acting debut as Jason Ioane on the syndicated action drama series Baywatch: Hawaii (1999–2001), which was followed by his portrayal of Ronon Dex on the Syfy science fiction series Stargate Atlantis (2005–2009), Khal Drogo in the first two seasons of the HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones (2011–2012), Declan Harp on the Discovery Channel historical drama series Frontier (2016–2018), and Baba Voss on the Apple TV+ science fiction series See (2019–present). Momoa was featured as the lead of the two lattermost series. Since 2016, Momoa portrays Arthur Curry / Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), headlining the eponymous 2018 film and its 2023 sequel. Momoa also played Duncan Idaho in the 2021 film adaptation of the science fiction novel Dune. Steppenwolf, a powerful general of Apokolips, arrives on Earth with the intent to retrieve the three Mother Boxes to pave the way for Darkseid’s conquest. His invasion spreads terror as he and his army of Parademons begin a ruthless assault. Batman, determined to protect Earth, realizes that he can’t fight this war alone. He sets out to assemble a team, reaching out to Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Superman. Cyborg, whose life was saved by the mysterious technology of a Mother Box, holds a key to their knowledge, though he struggles to accept his new reality. The heroes must overcome their personal challenges and unite to confront Steppenwolf. As the battle for Earth intensifies, they realize that even their combined might might not be enough. During a pivotal moment, Martian Manhunter joins the fray, using his telepathic and shape-shifting powers to turn the tide in favor of the League. In the end, Steppenwolf is defeated and retreats, but the League understands that this was only the beginning. Darkseid’s invasion is inevitable, and they must remain united for future threats.
