Zachary Edward Snyder (born March 1, 1966) is an American filmmaker. He made his feature film debut in 2004 with Dawn of the Dead, a remake of the 1978 horror film of the same name. Since then, he has directed or produced a number of comic book and superhero films, including 300 (2006) and Watchmen (2009), as well as the Superman film that started the DC Extended Universe, Man of Steel (2013), and its follow-ups, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017), the latter of which had a director's cut released in 2021. He also directed the animated film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (2010), the psychological action film Sucker Punch (2011), the zombie heist film Army of the Dead (2021), and the two-part space opera films Rebel Moon (2023) and Rebel Moon—Part Two: The Scargiver (2024). In 2004, he founded the production company The Stone Quarry (formerly known as Cruel and Unusual Films) alongside his wife Deborah Snyder and producing partner Wesley Coller. In the aftermath of the Justice League's defeat at the hands of Darkseid, the remaining heroes of the DC universe are desperate for a plan to stop the tyrannical ruler of Apokolips. John Stewart, the Green Lantern and former Marine Corps sniper, takes on a leadership role, given his experience and level-headedness. Batman, still struggling with the war ahead of them, agrees to work with him. The duo seek out other heroes to join their cause: Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and others. Together, they come up with a daring plan to take down Darkseid once and for all. Their plan involves infiltrating Apokolips itself, with Batman and John leading the charge. Along the way, Batman and John's friendship is tested, as both men struggle with who should make the ultimate sacrifice to bring Darkseid down. As they make their way through the treacherous landscape of Apokolips, they face dangerous challenges and battles with countless minions of Darkseid. But ultimately, Batman and John are able to use their unique skills and teamwork to defeat Darkseid, with one of them making the ultimate sacrifice to save the rest of the team. In the end, the heroes of the DC universe emerge victorious, having saved the multiverse from destruction and finding a newfound respect for each other, as they continue to fight side-by-side against any future threats that come their way.
