In 1880 Sir Oliver Lindenbrook, Professor of Geology at Edinburgh University, embarked on the journey of a lifetime with one of his students, Alec McEwan. The two are supported by Clara Göteborg, the widow of the Swedish professor Göteborg, the Icelander, Hans Bjelke, and unexpectedly by Jenny Lindenbrook, Sir Oliver's niece. But an enemy is on their trail on their perilous 'Journey to the Center of the Earth'.
