The Freedom Fighters, test subjects of Project "Spirit of '76," have escaped from a top-secret S.H.A.D.E. (Super-Human Advanced Defense Executive) facility.
They are no longer heroes; they are fugitives. The government has labeled them bioterrorists to cover up the existence of its experiments. Through back roads, seedy motels, and decaying industrial cities, the team fights for survival as they try to expose the truth before their own powers kill them or the State recaptures them.
