Joss is somewhat unique among the Jojos in that she wasn’t born into the Joestar family. She never knew her birth parents, as she was adopted as a baby by Catherine and Felix Giovanna. Catherine and Felix were, buy and large, good parents. However, Joss always felt like she didn’t belong. For that reason, Joss was always skittish and highly apologetic, throwing herself into various activities hoping that something would “stick”- something she could be passionate about which would set her apart from her fellows. Feeling that the weight of the Joestar name was part of why Joss acted like she did, her parents signed her up for Camp Glasto’s sleepaway program.
