Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are the Golden Globe- and Oscar-winning composers of the soundtracks to David Fincher's films "The Social Network", "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", and "Gone Girl". Both are also members of Nine Inch Nails and How to Destroy Angels.
The music is electronic in basis, but mostly organic sounding with lots of experiments and emphasis on sound fraying around the edges while focusing on the proper emotional tone for the various scenes.
