Damien Sayre Chazelle (/ʃəˈzɛl/; born January 19, 1985) is a French-American filmmaker. He directed the psychological drama Whiplash (2014), the musical romance La La Land (2016), the biographical drama First Man (2018), and the period black comedy Babylon (2022). For Whiplash, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. His biggest commercial success came with La La Land, nominated for 14 Academy Awards, winning six, including Best Director, making him the youngest person to win the award at age 32. He has also directed two episodes of the Netflix limited series The Eddy (2020). A biopic about the lives and careers of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy. The film begins as the couple gets married on September 12, 1953. It then follows Jack's battle with Addison's disease and near death experience. Jackie gave birth to her first child, Caroline, while her and Jack were campaigning for his re-election for Senator. Jack announces his candidacy for president in early 1960. After successful campaign, Jack is nominated by the democratic committee to serve as the democratic nominee. Jack choses Lyndon B. Johnson, from Texas, as his running-mate. Meanwhile Jackie is carrying her second child, John F. Kennedy Jr. Jack defeats Republican nominee, Richard Nixon, and is elected President of the United States. Jackie then gives birth to JFK Jr. The film ends as the Kennedy's enter the White House for the first time as the First Family.
