George Andrew J. MacKay (/məˈkaɪ/; born 13 March 1992) is an English actor. He began his career as a child actor in Peter Pan (2003). He had starring roles in the British war drama Private Peaceful (2012), the romantic film How I Live Now (2013), For Those in Peril (2013), for which he won a BAFTA Scotland Award, and Marrowbone (2017). He gained wider recognition for his leading role in the war film 1917 (2019). He won a British Independent Film Award for his performance in Femme (2023). Story told in flashback narration by the last surviving JSA member Liberty Belle: In early 1941, in the midst of WW2, the American intelligence receives message about Germany acquiring a powerful artifact called Spear of Destiny, which would lead them to gain upper hand in the war. United States, as they're unable to enter the war without Congress's support asks them to make a task team of a few ' mystery men '(Dr Midnite, Hourman, Jay Garrick,Liberty Belle, Wildcat,Sandman , Jonny Thunder) to be sent to stop the Nazi advisor Vandal Savage from using the artifact to defeat the world and start a dark reign. The team meets for the first time in England where they attack a Nazi super fleet's offensive on Allies ships, but fail to save a merchant ship and it's passengers. They're criticized as freaks and questioned about their loyalties, and put off from the mission. But after knowing about a meta-human's efforts to win a war in 1917 to save innocent lives and teaming up in a hotel room in London, they set out on their own to battle Savage's troops in eastern Europe. Many of the members perish in the battle, but ultimately win the battle and kills Vandal Savage. The rest of the team go back to America to live ordinary lives, but inspiring a new generation of superheroes to strive with humanity for justice and greatness.
