Gravely injured, Tony builds a crude armored suit to survive and escape, returning home a changed man. Secretly refining the armor, Tony becomes Iron Man and begins shutting down Stark Industries’ weapons division, drawing the attention of Obadiah Stane, his father’s longtime partner who believes Tony is unfit to lead. Stealing Tony’s technology, Stane constructs a massive suit of his own, becoming Iron Monger and attempting to seize control of the company.
