Tony Stark’s health deteriorates due to palladium poisoning, causing him to vomit before the Stark Expo jump. Pepper Potts urges him forward, tossing his helmet from the plane after a kiss. At a Senate hearing, Justin Hammer testifies while Potts speaks to Phil Coulson, asking for help with Tony’s condition. Coulson refuses. As Hammer boasts of his nephew’s Iron Man obsession, Potts departs to fetch Stark’s lunch. Meanwhile, Hammer secretly partners with Ivan Vanko and the elusive Ghost to rival Stark’s tech. At Stark’s reckless birthday party, he flirts with Natalie Rushman, showing her how to fire a repulsor, blasting an Iron Man ice sculpture. Potts arrives, hurt by Tony’s spiraling behavior. As she leaves, Stark and Rushman drink. Clint Barton is seen monitoring events from afar. As Stark battles poisoning and the threat of Hammer and Vanko’s tech, Ghost operates in the shadows, destabilizing Stark Industries. Stark confronts Vanko and Ghost in a climactic battle, regaining control of his legacy and finding a breakthrough for his arc reactor. Barton watches silently, ready to act if Stark fails. Post Credits: Coulson arrives at a vast desert crater, contacting S.H.I.E.L.D. “We’ve found it.” Buried in the sand is Mjolnir, glowing faintly.
