Following the mysterious death of his father, teenage prodigy Tony Stark discovers that Stark Industries has been seized by industrialist Obadiah Stane, who rebrands the company as Stane Industries and begins secretly developing advanced military cybernetics. With help from his loyal AI assistant H.O.M.E.R., his best friend Rhodey Rhodes, and engineer Patricia Potts, Tony constructs a revolutionary suit of armor and becomes Iron Lad, determined to expose the truth behind his father's death and stop dangerous technology from falling into the wrong hands. As rival weapons manufacturer Justin Hammer unveils his own armored super-soldiers and recruits deadly mercenaries like Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo, Tony finds himself battling a growing network of cybernetic extremists known as the Cybernetic Sectarians, whose goal is to replace human evolution with machine perfection.
