Susan Gibney is an American actress born on September 11, 1961, in Manhattan Beach, California. She moved to Webster, New York, at a young age and graduated from Herbert W. Schroeder High School. Gibney pursued theater studies at State University College at Buffalo, before earning a Master of Fine Arts degree from the prestigious Yale School of Drama. She has a strong background in theater, including off-Broadway performances and extensive work in regional theaters across the U.S. On television, Gibney is known for roles such as Dr. Leah Brahms on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and Commander (later Captain) Erika Benteen on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." She was considered for several key roles in the Star Trek franchise, including Captain Kathryn Janeway and Seven of Nine on "Star Trek: Voyager." Beyond Star Trek, Gibney has appeared in many TV series and films, including a critically praised role in the 2015 horror film "We Are Still Here."
