In the late 1950s, amid the paranoia of the Cold War, a giant metal robot crash-lands near the small town of Rockwell, Maine. A lonely and imaginative young boy named Hogarth Hughes stumbles upon the Iron Giant and, despite his initial fear, befriends the mechanical marvel. Hogarth names him "Giant" and discovers that he has a gentle and curious nature, As Hogarth teaches the Giant about life, humanity, and morality, the unlikely pair forms a deep bond. However, the Giant's arrival does not go unnoticed. A suspicious government agent named Kent Mansley arrives in Rockwell to investigate the strange occurrences and soon becomes determined to destroy the Giant, fearing it to be a weapon of mass destruction.
